NOTES:

83 pages, 3 in colour (including the rear cover) & one double page fold out.

This is the latest in the dual language softback books from Kagero. Each page is divided into two columns, Polish on the left & English on the right.

The story starts with a reunion of the surviving members of the Geshwader on 10th May 2002 at Seulingen-wald, WestGermany & an extract from the diary of Willi Reschke, detailing his last combat, in a Ta152, on 21st April 1945. This sets the scene for the story of the unit. The tale starts in April 1943, with the formation of the unit under Hajo Hermann & the book then recounts the history of the Geshwader, through the FW190A & D models to the Ta152. The story is well illustrated throughout with photographs of the aircraft, pilots & events, as well as quotes from the aircrews involved. Finally, there are two short biographies of Willi Reschke & Walter Loos as well as a list of all the Geshwader  & Gruppe commanders. Finally there are some camouflage & markings notes for the aircraft illustrated in colour.  These are; FW190D-9’s, red 1 (6/JG301) & yellow 15 (3/JG301), Ta152H’s Yellow 1 (7/JG301), green 4 & green 9 (Stab. JG301), FW190A-8 black<4 (Stab. I/JG301), FW190A-9 red 22 (6/JG301). The colour illustrations are very well done & offer yet further interpretations of black & white photographs! Personally, I think that these interpretations are the most accurate, but no doubt many will quite justifiably disagree!

The final bonus with this book is the inclusion of a decal sheet, printed by Techmod. This offers a variety of national markings & all the specialist numerals, werke numern & rank / gruppe markings for all the aircraft illustrated in the book. These are printed in both 1/72nd & 1/48th scale as well.

For the price, (approx  US$20.) I think that these books are marvellous value for money, especially with the decals as well. They are stocked by POL models here in the UK.
