From Experts Choice are a set of decals for the Monogram 1/48 F-106A. They are for an F-106 of the 171st FIS, Michigan ANG. The 171st flew the F-106 from 1973 until converting to the F-4C/D in 1978. This sheet is printed by Microscale, and accurately represents the Michigan Guard’s beautiful markings. Decals are supplied for one aircraft, along with national insignia, and USAF titles.

Some basic stenciling is supplied, along with 18 pilots, and 12 crew chiefs names. Unfortunately, on my sheet they are barely legible. A friend has this sheet, and they turned out much better on his. All these extra names will make a great addition to the spares box! Four ejection seat triangles are supplied in case on is modeling a two-seater. Two strips of serial numbers are supplied to allow you to do any a/c in the unit. Too bad that EC didn’t print the serials of other a/c in this unit on the instruction sheet, like they have on other 106 sheets.

The instruction sheet shows three example a/c, 58-0772, 58-0465, and 58-0793. 772 comes complete with the nose art "Defiance", while 465 has nose art depicting a bald eagle carrying a flag in flight. The instructions only show the left side of each a/c, but with the exception of the nose art, the markings are identical for each side. Kit instructions can be used for national insignia, and title placement. Overall, this is an excellent sheet, covering one of the most colorful, and popular units to ever fly the Six., and is future "must do" for me!
