When one thinks of early Russian jets, it is the MiG-15 that pops to mind. Like its contemporaries, the Sabre and to some extent the Hunter, the MiG-15 had a very long and productive life with the single seat version lasting in some air arms into the 1980s and the twin seat trainer variants even longer. Thanks to the aircraft's strong construction and ease of maintenance, it was perfect for those forces that were not able to handle more complex and sophisticated aircraft. It also makes them a great jet warbird and one can still see them flying at air shows around the world.

This particular edition was written by Yefim Gordon, who many recognize as an expert on Russian aircraft. And it shows in the historical background section as well as the bewildering variants portion. This is followed by an excellent selection of images of the different versions of the MiG-15 as well as those countries that flew it. There is a very nice color section that extends into the details section (also in full color) showing all the nooks and crannies of the aircraft.  There are more black and white detail bits using period photos. Also included are a number of superbly drawn profiles and two sets of outstanding plans. One set is in 1/72 and the other is in 1/48. This latter section is separate from the book and also includes a number of drawings of various ordnance carried by the MiG-15

Overall, this is a superb book that is both an interesting read and a most complete modeler's reference. One that I can recommend to you without reservation. Your local stockist or hobby shop should be able to order this for you.

I look forward to others in this series as they are made available.
