This disc from Aero Research covers a subject that is just as viable as those of operational aircraft. By that, I mean those who have been retired and have been lucky enough not to have been cut up and melted down for scrap; museum and display birds.

I know that were ever I travel, I seek out planes in these venues and sometimes run across something pretty interesting and unique. Some are in great shape and some are pretty dilapidated while others have been removed from their plinths outside VFWs and restored to their former glory. One thing about these military relics, at least in the US, is that they are only on loan and can be taken away at any time if they are not maintained. This may well not apply to those from civilian sources (such as C-47s) or in nations outside the US.

Regardless, it is always nice to see photos of retired veterans, especially if one gets a chance to see 'before and after' images. I have included an image not on the disc of an F-86 gate guard at what was Williams AFB in Arizona, photographed in 1991. This would fall into the 'display' category.  In this disc you get mostly US types from some of the more well known museums such as the USAF and USN museums, the Pima Museum and some other locales. Some are gate guards or what was left behind when a base closed, while others are guarding Midwest towns or other similar locales. This particular disc has 161 images and like other Aero Research discs, the subject is listed alphabetically with as much info as was known about it provided.

Another fine collection and one that I am sure any aviation enthusiast will find interesting.
