Notes: CD-ROM, Catalogue # 5001

For their third CD, Aero Research has chosen to do Fire Tankers. This one is a bit of a departure from the first two in several ways. First, nearly all of the images are of aircraft that are in service. I could only spot one museum bird. Secondly, the general quality of the images is much more uniform than in previous editions. In this case, the images are all very good to excellent.

You'll find all the 'normal' aircraft types you'd associate with fire bombers, from the A-26, to the B-17, TBM, DC-4, P-3 and S-2. You'll also find some pretty rare types in there as well like the AJ Savage, B-25 and Mars to name just a few. I found it quite interesting to notice that a large number of these planes originated with the Canadian Air Force.

Overall, I'd have to rate this one as the pick of the bunch so far. It is a very well done CD with 155 large (one might say huge) images. No information on where and when the pictures were taken, but that isn't surprising as I'm sure many of the master images were unmarked with this info.

If you have an interest in these aircraft, and who doesn't, then I can most highly recommend this CD to you. You'll be just as pleased with it as I.

You can get more information by e-mailing AeroResearch@Charter.net as they have not yet established a web site. Thanks to Aero Research for the review CD.
