For those of you who have seen the Blue Angels, you are aware that not just the Hornets are the ones that provide a performance. The support aircraft for the team is a KC-130T with the air refueling system removed. Once all the spares are unloaded, this aircraft, named 'Fat Albert' puts on a performance that many think is just as good as what the Blues do. This aircraft is one that is permanently assigned to the team and is currently 164763.

Caracal Models has provided a very nice sheet for this aircraft, which is painted Blue Angel Blue with Yellow trim and a White upper fuselage. The sheet includes markings for the plane in two times of its life. One is in July 2011 and the other in March 2014. The difference between the two is the list of crew names on the side of the plane and the font of the the word 'Blue Angles' on the forward fuselage. They are similar, but not the same. This is a result of repainting after an overhaul in 2012.

The yellow markings will need to be masked and painted by the builder, with Caracal's web site providing additional photos to help with this. Basically one uses the Italeri C-130H for this sheet as the H and T are pretty much the same airframe with different dash number engines. The instructions are superb and provide a lot of guidance. Decals are superbly printed by Cartograf in Italy so you know you are getting the best.

July 2014
