This latest decal is a cooperative sheet from Old 66 Decals and Starfighter decals and is for a specific SH-3D Sea Kit. 'Old 66' is unique in having been used in the recovery of five US space capsules during the hey-days of NASA's space operations in the 1960s and early 1970s. This sheet is for this aircraft when it was used in its final recovery, that of Apollo 13 in April of 1970.

In addition, the sheet has markings from its earlier career, though the instruction sheet doesn't specifically cover those markings. The sheet's superb instructions provide a ton of good information on this aircraft and there are plenty of 'net photos to help with the earlier markings.

The sheet lists several kits by Cyberhobby, Fujimi and Revell AG as the base kit for this one, but recommends the Fujimi kit over the others as less modification will be needed when using this one compared to the others. Fortunately, all three kits are not that difficult to find. It recommends leaving your Airfix and Lindberg kits in the box for this one.

In all, a very nice sheet for doing this historical aircraft.

As a bit of an interesting note, though not as accurate as these, the old Tamiya 1/100 SH-3D includes these markings. This aircraft was written off in a crash during 1975 off NAS Imperial Beach with one fatality.
