I recently ordered some kits from overseas and to help bulk out the parcel, I ordered a few aftermarket bits. This was one of them. It is a set of wheels and wheel masks for the MiG-21 in 1/48 scale. They are designed for the Eduard line of kits, but there is no reason these should not work on the ones from Academy or even Revell with a bit of drilling.

I have used Aires wheel sets before and they come with masks. The way these are designed, one masks the hubs on the nose wheel and then, with the help of liquid mask, one masks the tires on the main wheels. One has to be sure to prime the wheels before use as a previous set I used for another kit had issues when removing the liquid mask pulled up the paint along with it, making the mask moot. Actually, the demarcation line between wheel and tire on the main wheels is pretty well defined, so one could probably get away with not using them. They are, however, pretty well a requirement for the nose wheel.

The set comes with full instructions on using the masks and will be worth it if you don't like painting wheels and tires.
