For those who find the new Fujimi 1/500 Yamato a bit light on detail, Fujimi has supplied an upgrade photo etch set for this new kit. The set includes three large photo-etch frets, one very small one and several brass posts (the latter two not shown). The brass is not very thick so that it will seem more scale on a 1/500 ship.

It includes everything you'd expect a ship kit upgrade set to have. Watertight doors, cranes, catapults, railings, screens of various sizes and new floor areas for the AA gun tubs and upper deck structures. Of course, there is much more to it as you can see, but those are the highlights. The set comes with a superb set of instructions that include both line drawings and quality color photos of the section with the bits in place. This is by far one of the nicest sets of instructions I've seen in a while.

So if you are going to put in the effort of building this superb model, it would be well worth it to invest in this set to make it just that much nicer.
